No exact timing for a referendum on Armenia’s accession to the EU or on remaining within the EAEU was mentioned during the conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

“No, no exact dates were named, but at the same time the need to hold such a referendum as soon as possible was emphasized. This is very important,” Peskov told journalists, answering a question about the exact timing of a referendum on Armenia’s accession to the EU.

On Monday, Putin held a telephone conversation with Pashinyan at the initiative of the Armenian side.

Earlier, the press service of the Armenian Cabinet reported that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, allowed for the possibility of holding a referendum on joining the EU after an official application to the European Union.
