A meeting was held with representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) mission, led by Kristine Ghalechyan, Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, with the participation of Narek Zulalyan, Deputy Executive Director of the "Road Department" Foundation, and other foundation officials. This was reported by the Road Department.

The discussion focused on the progress of major road construction projects being implemented with ADB support, upcoming steps, as well as the legal, financial, and technical issues related to their implementation.

Under the Resilient and Inclusive Road Sector Improvement Program, the northern 27.1-km section of the Sisian-Kajaran segment of the North-South Road Corridor is planned for construction. To finance the project, the Republic of Armenia and the Asian Development Bank signed a €236 million loan agreement in 2025.

The current status of the project, the current stage of tender procedures, land expropriation work, and the organizational and technical processes preceding the start of construction were discussed.

"The Asian Development Bank is one of Armenia's most important partners, and the jointly implemented projects in the road infrastructure sector are of strategic importance for the country. I am confident that, thanks to continued cooperation and effective coordination, we will be able to advance our joint projects within the established timelines and ensure their successful implementation," said Deputy Minister Kristine Ghalechyan.

During the meeting, preparatory work was also discussed for the restoration of the Pushkin Tunnel, the construction of the new Dilijan tunnel, as well as the new program for the post-disaster restoration and improvement of the M-6 interstate highway. The parties addressed the project's technical readiness, financing mechanisms, and the next stages of implementation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed the continuity of cooperation in the development of road infrastructure and agreed to continue working closely together, as before, to ensure the effective and timely implementation of joint projects.
