Opposition Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party member, public figure Ara Nakhshkaryan was arrested at his home around 9am, lawyer Abrasim Atoyan on Wednesday told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, Nakhshkaryan is currently being held at the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia.

“They took him from his apartment around 9:00 this morning. He was arrested based on the recording published by the Anti-Corruption Committee,” Atoyan said.

Nakhshkaryan is the director of the Gyumri office of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society and was also a candidate for MP from the opposition “Armenia” Alliance.
