Israel plans to make a pilotless warplane with capabilities akin to the US-supplied F-35 stealth fighter, a senior official said, as the country turns toward independent military production amid growing isolation over its wars, Bloomberg reports.
The initiative comes as Israel outlines plans to reduce US defense aid to Israel over the coming decade and replace it with joint military development and production, said the official, who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity given the sensitivity of the discussions.
According to the official, other countries may also be involved in the implementation of this program.
