I am responsible for Armenia-Russia relations, I am not responsible for Armenian-Russian relations. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at a press briefing after the Cabinet meeting of the Armenian government on Thursday.
"Regarding the political component of these relations, I have already said that Armenia has decided to have alternatives, whereas before they did not exist. This applies not only to economic, but also, including, political alternatives," Pashinyan added.
He noted that Armenia has signed documents on strategic relations with several countries, whereas before there was simply no such thing.
"Armenia has decided to have alternatives, including in the political sense. Russia sees a problem there. The problem is as follows: ‘either the relations are exclusive or there should not be relations.’ We [i.e. Armenia] do not accept that. We say the relations are not exclusive, but they should exist. This is a legitimate position," the Armenian premier said.
