The matter of the candidacy of the new special representative of Armenia for the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is under discussion, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced at a press briefing after the Cabinet session of the Armenian government on Thursday.

“The decision on the special representative has not yet been made. Within the framework of the format of cooperation with Turkey, we [i.e. Armenia] need to decide how we will continue our work, with what logic and format we will be guided by in order to make appropriate decisions. Discussions on this topic are currently underway,” Pashinyan said.

Previously, the special representative of Armenia for the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations was Ruben Rubinyan. But after winning the parliamentary elections on June 7, the ruling Civil Contract Party has nominated Rubinyan for the post of speaker of the newly elected parliament.
