US President Donald Trump said that the United States was prepared to strike Iran, but decided to abandon the attack after Tehran and a number of other Middle Eastern countries appealed to Washington to refrain from military action.
According to the American leader, the US was at full combat readiness and possessed military power “unseen since World War II.” At the same time, Trump claims that the parties have already agreed on the main parameters of a possible deal.
“Iran and other Middle Eastern countries asked us to refrain from any attack, since the main parameters of the deal had been agreed upon. It will include the immediate, full, and unconditional opening of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the elimination of the nuclear threat from Iran. Based on this request, for the future good of the entire world and, accordingly, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, I agreed to cancel the attack on the condition that we would be able to conclude a deal quickly,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The US president also said that Israel is joining these arrangements. In closing, he called on all parties to complete the negotiations and finalize an agreement as soon as possible.
