Ruben Rubinyan, a 36-year-old MP from the ruling "Civil Contract" party who served as one of the Deputy Speakers in the previous convocation of parliament and, until recently, was the special envoy for the normalization talks with Turkey, has been nominated as the sole candidate for Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on August 2.

His candidacy was presented at the first session of the 9th convocation of Armenia's National Assembly by Arusyak Manavazyan, head of the parliamentary faction of the ruling "Civil Contract" party.

"Dear colleagues, dear fellow citizens, it is a great honor for me to present the candidacy of Ruben Rubinyan for the position of Speaker of the National Assembly today. Before turning to his biographical details, I want to emphasize that Rubinyan is a remarkable and principled person, a decent, modest, and honest political figure who has, over many years, walked a difficult path in politics and state-building. Throughout his political career, he has been and remains one of the most open and transparent politicians," Manavazyan said.

In her view, Rubinyan's organizational abilities, balanced approach, and political maturity will allow him to effectively lead the work of the National Assembly.
