The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had eliminated two Hamas unit commanders as a result of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip.

According to the IDF, Salem Jamal Abd al-Rahman Abu Labad, commander of one of the cells of Hamas’s Nukhba special unit, was killed in the southern Gaza Strip on Saturday. The Israeli side said he had taken part in the attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz in southern Israel in October 2023.

In addition, the Israeli military reported the killing of Muhammad Abd al-Nasser Muhammad Khatib, commander of the Maghazi Battalion within Hamas.

According to the IDF, he was killed in a separate airstrike carried out in the central Gaza Strip on Friday.

The strikes were carried out amid ongoing fighting in the Gaza Strip, where the Israeli operation began after Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, 2023.
