Today, August 2, a drowning incident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. Operational information was received around 13:30 that a person had drowned in Lake Sevan, in the area of "Aragast" beach.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, Sevan's water rescuers, with the help of local citizens, pulled the body of the drowned person from the lake, about 15 meters from the shore.

A criminal case has been initiated by the investigative department over the incident. By the investigator's decision, a forensic medical examination of the body has been ordered.

Sevan's community police officers established at the scene that the drowned person was 24-year-old Muhammad A., a citizen of Egypt.
