Iran does not intend to return the situation around the Strait of Hormuz to the state that existed before the start of the military escalation, the country's foreign ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said, Fars news agency reports. Baghaei said that the negotiations between Iran and Oman on the aforesaid waterway are not directly related to the issue of its opening or closing.

According to him, the restriction of traffic through the strait has become a consequence of "US sabotage and the naval blockade of Iran." "The Islamic Republic acts based on national interests and security considerations and will not change its decisions under the influence of threats and pressure," the Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson said. He emphasized that the consultations with Oman are bilateral and aimed at developing "a mechanism that will ensure Iran's interests."

According to Baghaei, such discussions have been going on for a long time and are not a new initiative. The Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson added that Tehran does not intend to abandon its positions due to threats or pressure from the media.
