US President Donald Trump has called off a large-scale military operation against Iran about a day before it was due to begin, reports Channel 12 television of Israel. Accordingly, preparations for the strike began on Wednesday, the day after Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.

US Central Command had developed a plan to attack Iran's energy infrastructure, and Israel was allegedly to participate in the operation. An American official told Channel 12 that the Israeli side had warned Washington that unless the strike seriously damaged Iran's economy and government structures, there was no point in carrying it out. On Friday and Saturday, Qatar held intensive talks with Iran, the US, and Oman in an attempt to prevent escalation and achieve the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Channel 12’s sources, Doha asked Trump for an additional day to reach an agreement with Tehran, and the US president agreed. Later, Qatar informed the American leader that Iran had agreed to the proposal to reopen the strait. At the same time, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud called on Trump to abandon the strike.

After that, the US president announced on Truth Social that he had canceled the operation because Iran had agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and stop its nuclear program.
