The US authorities have doubled the amount of TRIPP+ Enterprise Fund funds—from $201 million to $402 million. This was reported by the American website highergov.com, which tracks, in particular, US state grants, Hetq.am reports.
The TRIPP+ Enterprise Fund was established earlier this year, on January 26, two weeks after the meeting in Washington between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio (13.01.2026). At the end of that meeting, diplomats published a document, from which it became clear that the parties will establish a company to ensure the development and implementation of the infrastructure of the TRIPP route passing through southern Armenia, the TRIPP Development Company.
Its 26% shareholder will be Armenia, and 74% will be the US, more specifically, the TRIPP Development Company US, which will be established in the US state of Delaware and will be a subsidiary of the state agency of that country, the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
The TRIPP Development Company and the TRIPP+ fund are different entities.
On January 26, the TRIPP+ Enterprise Fund was established in the same state of Delaware, with Konstantin Sokolov, a businessman who supports the current US Republican Party government and, in particular, President Donald Trump, appointed as its head. Sokolov is officially considered a 20% shareholder of Armenia's largest mobile operator, Viva Armenia CJSC.
It is noteworthy that the official website for searching companies registered in Delaware lists the fund's name as Trans-Caspian Enterprise Fund.
The Guardian, citing a spokesperson for the US State Department, wrote that the fund is authorized to make investments of $201 million in the South Caucasus and Central Asia; that is, in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. The goal of the investments will be to promote the strategic development of the private sector in these countries, and by investments, one should understand the provision of loans, equity investments, and grants.
The enterprise fund is a financial mechanism used by the US government, the roots of which go back to 1989, and through such funds, the US has been investing in Eastern European countries for years, particularly in the countries that were previously part of the socialist camp.
Each enterprise fund operates as an independent, autonomous organization, which is governed by a board of directors, and the US government oversees its activities.
Thus, according to highergov.com, the US State Department's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs allocated a grant of $201 million to the TRIPP+ fund on January 30. The amount must be realized in nearly 11 years, by December 31, 2036.
According to the same source, on July 16, a change was made, and the US government undertook to allocate a grant of $402 million to the TRIPP+ Enterprise Fund. The realization period remained the same—until the end of 2036. From the data of highergov.com, we can conclude that the entire amount has already been allocated to the TRIPP+ fund.
According to the same source, the main place of realization of this amount will be Armenia.
