Talks between Israel and Lebanon have resumed in Rome, US State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott announced.

“The United States remains fully committed to supporting both governments as they carry this process forward in a manner that delivers lasting security for both countries, eliminates security threats to Israel, and restores Lebanese state authority throughout the south,” Pigott wrote on X.

The June 26 framework agreement also calls for the Lebanese military to gradually assume security responsibility in the pilot zones, enabling a phased withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon.
