An attempt to import illegal Armenian products to Russia's Republic of Dagestan was prevented, RIA Dagestan reports

A traffic jam of about ten trucks with Azerbaijani and Dagestani license plates has formed at the Astara customs point and cargo terminal.

According to the Ministry of Transport and Road Economy of Dagestan, the cargo is pepper grown in Armenia, which was supposed to be sent for re-export to Russia. However, it turned out that Iranian intermediaries tried to replace the documents in order to present the goods as Iranian.

Drivers from Dagestan have been waiting for a decision for ten days. During this time, some of the pepper has begun to spoil, and the expiration dates are approaching.

Carriers are asking to allow the cargo to be unloaded, but the intermediaries insist on carrying out the transportation without unloading.

The situation has been dealt with by the representative office of the Dagestan regional organization of public motor carriers.

An inquiry will be sent to the Iranian ministry of justice in the near future to clarify the procedure and receive compensation for the forced downtime.

The Ministry of Transport and Road Economy of Dagestan emphasizes that it is inadmissible to accept illegal Armenian products for transportation, as their import into Russia is not allowed.
