The Turkish authorities have decided to continue with the upkeep and the expanding of the lighting grid at Akhtamar Island of Van Province.   

According to this project, aside from the surrounding area of the Holy Cross Armenian Church, maintenance and lighting activities will be carried out in the whole Island. This project will be implemented in the coming months, but the Island will continue to host visitors during these activities, Zaman daily of Turkey informs.     

To note, owing to the solar batteries installed at Akhtamar Island, solely the Holy Cross Church is currently receiving night-lighting.
