Trade between Russia and Armenia is sharply decreasing. In 2026, this indicator dropped by two-thirds compared to 2025 and will continue to decrease, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk said, TASS reports.

“The situation in relations between the EAEU [i.e. the Eurasian Economic Union] and Armenia was predictable. For the past three to four years, we have been warning our colleagues in Armenia about such risks; in particular, about a decrease in trade.

In 2024, trade between Russia and Armenia had reached a record figure: about $12 billion. Last year, it reached about $8 billion. This year, trade is experiencing a sharp decline; compared to 2025, it has decreased by about two-thirds. The situation is such that it will obviously continue to decrease,” Overchuk noted.

TASS added that in the period from January to June 2026, the trade between Armenia and Russia dropped by 20.9 percent compared to the same period in 2025.

In the first six months of 2026, trade between the two countries amounted to $2.630 billion, while in January-June 2025 it had totaled $3.326 billion. At the same time, Russia’s share in the total trade of Armenia also fell. In January-June 2026, it amounted to 27.5 percent, while in the same period last year it was 34.7 percent.
