ISTANBUL. – A fight broke out in an Armenian school in Istanbul connected with the Turkish anthem. The incident happened in Karagyozyan private school after an event dedicated to Turkish writer Mehmet Akif Ersoy.

As the Turkish Haberturk reports, after the literary event was over on the order of one of the teachers 5 pupils performed the Turkish anthem.

The deputy principal of the school accused the teacher of spreading Islam as he had made the students say ‘Long live Islam’. The teacher applied to the prosecutor’s office stating that the deputy principal insulted him saying that by ordering the pupils to perform the Turkish anthem he spreads Islam.

A criminal case has been launched against the deputy principal.
