Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov hosted Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Cholpon-Ata city on Friday, the press service of the Kyrgyz president reports.

Current matters of developing bilateral relations, expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation were discussed, as well as an exchange of views on matters of mutual interest on the regional and international agenda.

Also, Japarov congratulated Pashinyan on his re-appointment as prime minister, and wished him success in his future activities for the benefit of the Armenian people.

The president of Kyrgyzstan emphasized that his country attaches great importance to the further development of Kyrgyz-Armenian relations, which are based on traditional friendship, mutual respect, and shared values. He expressed confidence that the negotiations will give a new impetus to bilateral cooperation and enable defining new directions of interaction.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the matters of developing trade and economic cooperation. Japarov noted the need to enrich bilateral cooperation with more practical content, expand mutual trade, develop production cooperation, and attract investments.

In turn, Pashinyan congratulated Japarov on Kyrgyzstan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, and expressed confidence that this will open up additional opportunities for deepening cooperation on international platforms.

Also, he noted the successes achieved by Kyrgyzstan in socioeconomic development, and stressed the impressive pace of implementation of investment projects and the country’s economic growth. According to him, these achievements create favorable prerequisites for expanding mutual trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Armenia.

In addition, Pashinyan emphasized that improving transport connectivity in the South Caucasus region will contribute to the further development of bilateral trade and the strengthening of economic ties between the two countries.

Based on the results of the talks, the parties expressed confidence that the agreements reached will contribute to the further development of Kyrgyz-Armenian cooperation in the spirit of friendship and mutual respect.
