Mohammad Bagher Zolqadr, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the United States changes its policy and meets Tehran’s demands, Mehr reports.

According to him, Washington must “correct its behavior” before Iran agrees to open the strategic waterway.

In particular, according to Zolqadr, the following six conditions are in question:

• an end to threats against Iran’s supreme leader;

• a complete and permanent renunciation by the United States of military action against Iran and its regional allies;

• the withdrawal of U.S. naval and air forces involved in the blockade of Iran;

• compensation to Iran for damage caused by recent conflicts;

• the lifting of U.S. sanctions;

• the unfreezing and return to Iran of its frozen assets.

Iran demands an end to threats against the country’s supreme leader, a permanent halt to military action against Iran and its regional allies, the withdrawal of U.S. naval and air forces involved in the blockade of Iran, as well as compensation to Tehran for damage from recent conflicts.

In addition, Tehran demands the cancellation of U.S. sanctions and the unfreezing of Iranian assets.

Zolqadr said that these demands reflect the will of the Iranian people, which, according to him, is evidenced by the mass rallies taking place in the country over the past six days.

“The Supreme National Security Council will not back down from these demands — neither in wartime nor during negotiations,” Zolqadr said.
