Mortreza Karamouzian, head of Iran’s Media Basij organization, said that 353 Iranian media workers were killed during the country’s three most recent wars, which it experienced in the 1980s, in 2025, and in 2026, Mehr reports.

According to him, 333 representatives of the Iranian media were killed during the 1980–1988 Iran-Iraq War. Another 12 journalists and media workers were killed as a result of the Israeli-American attack on Iran in June 2025, including two employees of Iran’s state television and radio broadcaster (IRIB).

Another eight media workers were killed during the third conflict, which began on February 28, 2026, and lasted 40 days until early April.

Karamouzian also reported the deaths of 268 media workers affiliated with the “Axis of Resistance.” Six of them were killed during the latest conflict.
