Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran is not currently holding talks with the United States, but the sides continue to exchange messages through intermediaries, Mehr reports.

“We are not currently holding talks with the United States, but messages are being exchanged through intermediaries,” the Iranian minister said.

According to him, a number of countries continue to work on creating conditions for the resumption of dialogue. At the same time, Araghchi stressed that negotiations cannot be resumed until Washington stops violating the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and takes steps to compensate for the consequences of its violations.

Speaking about talks with Oman, the minister noted that they are focused on creating a new maritime route through the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, the existing routes will be replaced by new ones.

Araghchi also stressed separately that the agreements with Oman do not mean the automatic opening of the Strait of Hormuz. “An agreement may be reached, but the opening of the strait depends on other conditions conveyed through intermediaries,” the Iranian foreign minister said.
