Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty called for the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip and for the opening of the enclave to allow the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid, in line with U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan, Al Jazeera reports.

According to Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty discussed these issues by phone with Nikolay Mladenov, director-general of the Trump-established Peace Council.

The sides also discussed the deployment of International Stabilization Forces, which are expected to take responsibility for security in the Gaza Strip.

Cairo’s call came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday officially rejected the 15-point peace plan for Gaza.
