The Russian side has not held any official talks with Germany on the Ukrainian settlement, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with TASS. “There have been and are no official contacts with the FRG [i.e. the Federal Republic of Germany] on the Ukrainian settlement, and they are unlikely to be possible, given the extremely aggressive anti-Russian rhetoric and practical steps of the German political leadership,” the Russian deputy foreign minister noted.
At the same time, Galuzin pointed to the existing informal contacts between members of non-governmental groups. “As for informal meetings between representatives of various public structures in Russia and Germany, they have been and continue to be,” the Russian diplomat said.
Earlier, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced that allegedly contacts had taken place in the Azerbaijani capital city of Baku between representatives of Russia and Germany regarding the Ukrainian settlement.
