Russia is ready to expand pragmatic ties with Georgia, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with TASS.

“We [i.e. Russia] are open to further expanding pragmatic ties with Tbilisi. It is obvious that the key to Georgia’s successful development is not confrontation, but cooperation with our country,” noted Galuzin

“As for bilateral political contacts [between Russia and Georgia], they are absent today. The reason is that the Georgian side is not ready for such a dialogue. Of course, it is difficult for me to judge how this helps Georgia overcome problems, but this is the decision of its authorities,” added the Russian deputy foreign minister.
