The Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: The foreign policy conducted by [PM] Nikol Pashinyan's has brought Armenia to a situation where both pro-Russian and pro-European circles are dissatisfied with him.

In fact, both sides feel cheated. Relations [of Armenia] with Russia are extremely tense. Moscow is applying one economic restriction after another to Armenia, periodically banning or limiting the import of new [Armenian] products [to Russia]. The Russian side officially explains these with sanitary and other problems, but the periodicity of the restrictions already creates the impression of political pressure. Added to this is the fact that after the [Armenian] parliamentary elections on June 7, RF [i.e. Russian Federation] President Vladimir Putin did not publicly congratulate Nikol Pashinyan in connection with the election results. At the same time, Europe is still unable to fully compensate for the possible loss [of Armenia] of the Russian market.

According to the Zhoghovurd daily’s information, clear signals are being sent to Pashinyan from European circles also: you have chosen the European path, therefore you must also be prepared for the price of that choice: deprivation, economic difficulties, and sacrifices. The European side is trying to alleviate the situation with financial allocations, aid programs, grants and loans, but they cannot fully fill the emerging gap as a result of the deterioration of [Armenia’s] economic relations with Russia.

A rather telling picture emerges. Moscow does not trust Pashinyan, believing that he is leading Armenia towards Europe, and the pro-Europeans are dissatisfied that the [Armenian] authorities are not consistently implementing the proclaimed European path. In short, Pashinyan's multi-vector policy has reached a point where he has managed to disappoint both Russia and Europe. And the economic price of these political maneuvers is ultimately paid by Armenia, the RA business entity, and the [Armenian] citizen who pays dearly for everything every day.
