We cannot allow our railways to remain outside international logistics networks due to the management format. Armenia is seeking an amicable solution with its Russian partners to integrate the country into global transport corridors, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a press briefing Thursday.

According to him, a direct termination of the current concession management contract with the Russian side is unacceptable for Armenia, but the current format creates obstacles for the involvement of large international operators.

“We [i.e. Armenia] offer our Russian partners to find an amicable solution together. For example, to sell part of the shares so that the Russian side retains a minority stake, or to separate the infrastructure management and transportation licenses,” the Armenian premier noted.

Pashinyan assured that Yerevan is striving to find a compromise that will take into account the interests of both parties and enable Armenia to realize its transit potential.

At the same time, the prime minister of Armenia emphasized that even in the event of the complete elimination of restrictions on the import of [Armenian] products to Russia, Armenia will continue the path of diversifying its foreign economic ties so as not to be fatally dependent on one direction.
