The commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM) insists on the need to resume strikes against Iran, including by targeting oil, natural gas and power infrastructure, in an effort to increase pressure on Tehran, Israeli media reported.

Admiral Brad Cooper made the proposal during a visit to Israel last week, Israel’s Channel 13 reports, citing unnamed, politically informed sources.

Cooper was attending a meeting of the Israeli military’s top operational forum.

During the meeting, Cooper called for renewed military action against Iran and strikes on its national infrastructure, including natural gas, oil, and power plants.

“Striking infrastructure in Iran will change the rules of the game, will hurt the Iranians badly, and in the current situation they will not change their positions,” Cooper was reported as saying.

Also, the head of CENTCOM told Israeli military officials that resuming hostilities may be the only option, and that the US may have to strike Iran jointly with Israel.

According to the same sources, Cooper presented his position also to the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine.

The proposal was conveyed also to US President Donald Trump.
