The treasure hunters are destroying, on a regular basis, the walls and foundations of the Armenian Church which is left to its fate at Konak village of Turkey’s southeastern Hakkari Province.
The Hakkari Provincial Council members sent a report to Culture and Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay and requested the church’s immediate restoration in order to save it from final destruction, Haberler news agency of Turkey informs.
Hakkari’s Culture and Tourism Department Chief Emin Ozatak noted that the prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation against those who are destroying the church. Also, he informed that their department is unable to restore the church because it did not receive the necessary funding.
