A Lufthansa Airbus A380 operating flight LH459 from San Francisco to Munich was damaged during landing at Munich Airport, RTL reports.

As a result of the incident, the runway threshold lights as well as the aircraft’s tires were damaged. All 351 passengers safely disembarked from the airliner.

Lufthansa confirmed the incident, noting that airfield lights were damaged near the runway threshold. The cause of the incident has not yet been established.

According to RTL, the A380’s tires were also damaged during landing. The aircraft, registered as D-AIML and around 13 years old, did not operate any further flights after the incident.

Germany’s Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) has joined the investigation. Investigators arrived at the scene and seized the flight recorders.

The incident occurred on the same runway where, two days earlier, a Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 takeoff nearly ended in catastrophe. On August 15, the aircraft overran the end of the four-kilometer runway, sped across the grass, and managed to become airborne only shortly before the end of the airport grounds.
