The US has accused China of rerouting billions of dollars in goods through other countries to avoid tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump in 2018, according to a White House report.

Accordingly, the White House estimates that the annual losses from this practice reach $26 billion.

The report states that more than 40 countries are involved in the “global Shadow Transshipment Network through which China’s tariff evasion now moves.”

It is emphasized that this list also includes Azerbaijan and Georgia, which “provide rail and dry-port transit, consolidation, and overland-to-maritime connections.”

The report was released ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping's expected visit to the US in September.
