Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has been awarded the Hessian Peace Prize of Germany for his efforts to establish peace in the South Caucasus, Armenian News-NEWS.am was informed by the Armenian embassy in Germany.

On September 18, Pashinyan will receive the Albert Osswald Foundation Prize in Wiesbaden, Germany, during a solemn ceremony at the parliament of the German state of Hesse.

The aforesaid award recognizes the 51-year-old politician’s continued efforts to establish democratic institutions in Armenia and to bring it closer to the European Union.

As one of the leaders of the 2018 “Velvet Revolution,” he paved the way for parliamentary elections in Armenia and has since been leading the country on a path toward peace, as prime minister.

At the same time, with the support of the United States, he managed to adopt a joint declaration on peace with the president of neighboring Azerbaijan in August 2025, as well as initial the agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, added the Armenian embassy in Germany.
