The Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: According to exclusive information of the Zhoghovurd daily, the RA ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the RF [i.e. the Russian Federation], Gurgen Arsenyan, will not continue in office in Moscow. [Armenian PM] Nikol Pashinyan has decided to recall him, and our sources in the [Armenian] authorities assure: the decision is irreversible.

It is not yet clear who will replace Arsenyan; according to our information, there is not even a clear candidate at the moment.

Nikol Pashinyan is dissatisfied with Arsenyan's work, since he is unable to achieve a normalization of the tense Armenian-Russian relations. Meanwhile, it is a fact that Pashinyan himself also is unable to normalize relations with [Russian President]  Vladimir Putin. One of the most striking episodes of this is that the RF president did not even congratulate Pashinyan after the [June 7] parliamentary elections [in Armenia].

The Zhoghovurd daily tried to get an official explanation regarding Arsenyan’s recall. The MFA informed us that the matter is not within their jurisdiction, directing [us] to ask the office of the president of the Republic [of Armenia]. The presidential administration suggested addressing the question to the Government. And the prime minister’s spokesperson did not officially answer our question throughout the day yesterday.

However, our authorities’ sources in the official “circulation” claim Gurgen Arsenyan’s recall is already an irreversible reality. It remains to be known who will be sent to Moscow and whether the change of ambassador can solve the political problem that has not been resolved so far even at the Pashinyan-Putin level.
