The Iranian president called the recently signed memorandum of understanding with the US a “major achievement” that was approved by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

Speaking at a public event, Masoud Pezeshkian described the results of the talks as “dignified and valuable,” emphasizing that the document does not contain a single point indicating Iran’s capitulation.

“They cannot find even a single clause in this agreement that indicates capitulation [of Iran]. All the commitments concern the other side [i.e. the US],” the Iranian president said.

In his words, those members of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council who directly participated in the negotiations strongly supported the agreements reached.

Pezeshkian stressed, however, that the agreement does not mean Tehran’s willingness to submit if hostilities resume. He declared that the Iranian armed forces are fully prepared to defend the country.

“We [i.e. Iran] will not bow to intimidation and pressure under any circumstances,” the Iranian president said. “We will resist them until our last breath and give them a crushing response.”

Also, Pezeshkian accused the US of violating international norms by striking Iranian schools, hospitals, and infrastructure.

At the same time, he called for unity within Iran, and urged Iranians to maintain unity and accept differences of opinion.

“If we are together, we are strong. But if we are divided, we will be destroyed. The enemy is counting on disagreements, and our task is not to allow the fire of division to flare up,” he said.

According to him, the war should end at a time when Tehran maintains a position of “power and dignity,” considering the current moment to be suitable for reaching an agreement.

“It is better that we [i.e. Iran] bring the war to an end now as we are in a position of power and dignity,” the Iranian president said.
