Against the background that the railway transportation of Russian grain to Armenia has become stable, Russia may stop road transportation from its Krasnodar region to Armenia via the Upper Lars checkpoint on the border between Russia and Georgia.

This is stated in the report by the Georgian Eurasian Transport corridor Investment Center (TRRC), Georgian local media report. Georgian experts believe that Russia's strategy is to redirect some cargo flows to the railway, an example of which is the sending of cargo—mainly grain—to Armenia via Azerbaijan.

"In this way, Moscow is trying to reduce the load on the strategically important Upper Lars border crossing," the TRRC noted.
