The Migration and Citizenship Service of Armenia has presented the statistics of asylum seekers in the country in the first half of 2026.

Accordingly, 358 people from 32 countries of citizenship have sought asylum in Armenia in the aforesaid period.

The majority of these asylum seekers, 73%, are men.

The nationals of Iran, Ukraine, Russia, and Afghanistan were the most in the number of respective applications.

About 28% of them were Iranian citizens.

During the same period, 94 people were granted refugee status in Armenia.

Also, granting of refugee status in the country was denied after reviewing 190 applications.

The figures for asylum seekers and decisions made during the aforesaid period do not refer to the same applications, and may also refer to asylum applications submitted earlier, the Migration and Citizenship Service of Armenia added.
