The ongoing process regarding our family is not legal, but political, and the solution will be political. Levon Kocharyan, a member of the opposition "Armenia" Faction in parliament and the son of the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, told this to reporters Tuesday.

Levon Kocharyan said that he has no idea about the “crime” attributed to his father and is convinced that what is happening boils down to the incumbent Armenian authorities’ attempt to neutralize all those who can hinder them.

“This is happening because the traditional structures are silent: embassies, Western structures, stony silence, there is nothing. The person occupying the chair of prime minister [i.e. Nikol Pashinyan] gives instructions on who should sit [in prison], and the next day 20 armed law enforcement officers appear at the given person’s house. I don't know what else needs to happen to show that the prime minister has put himself above the law," Levon Kocharyan noted, calling it a "great tragedy" that there were people who voted for such a person who, as per Kocharyan, has no moral red lines and will continue in the same spirit as long as he has the opportunity.

At the same time, he is making many people accomplices.

“Perhaps even unintentionally, they—from investigators to law enforcement officers—are acting on his instructions. All those who have professional dignity should know that the time to answer will come,” Levon Kocharyan said.

The opposition MP stressed that everything possible will be done in legal terms, but the issue is political, and the authorities are simply trying to give it the appearance of a legal process.

“The whole process is political, and the solution will be political,” Levon Kocharyan stated.

He added that he had no information about his father, as Robert Kocharyan and his eldest son, Sedrak, have been detained, and confirmed that Robert Kocharyan had undergone surgery two weeks ago; he had a heart problem.

Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that today at around 7am, law enforcement officers raided the house of opposition MP Levon Kocharyan, while his father, second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, was taken by investigative bodies to the Anti-Corruption Committee. Later, it became known that Robert Kocharyan and his eldest son, Sedrak Kocharyan, were detained.

In addition, also early this morning, tax authorities of Armenia sealed the Yerevan office of Toyota.

Investigative and procedural actions are being carried out at Orange Fitness club, Play City entertainment center, and in the directors' homes within the framework of criminal proceedings. The Kocharyan family has shares in these companies.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday had instructed the law enforcement to deprive second President Robert Kocharyan and third President Serzh Sargsyan of their property.
