CANNES. – Prominent international film festival kicked off on Wednesday in Cannes. Its Grand Prix is considered to be the second prestigious award, yielding to Oscar.

The symbol of the festival is Marilyn Monroe, while the jury key member is Italian director Giovanni "Nanni" Moretti.

The festival kicked off with “Moonrise Kingdom” movie. The overall number of movies included in the contest is 22.

The show-woman of the festival is the “Artist” actress Berenice Bejo. The festival will be closed on May 27.

To note, the Armenian delegation headed by the director of the National Film Center of Armenia Gevorg Gevorgyan will participate in the festival.
