Four of the six persons who were detained Tuesday along the lines of the criminal proceedings on large-scale money laundering, abuse of official power, and large-scale bribery, have been remanded in custody, including Sedrak Kocharyan, son of second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia stated this in response to a request from Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Also, another of the accused has been placed under house arrest.
Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that on Tuesday at around 7am, law enforcement officers raided the house of opposition MP Levon Kocharyan, while his father, second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, was taken by investigative bodies to the Anti-Corruption Committee. Later, it became known that Robert Kocharyan and his eldest son, Sedrak Kocharyan, were detained.
In addition, also early Tuesday morning, tax authorities of Armenia sealed the Yerevan office of Toyota.
Furthermore, investigative and procedural actions were carried out at Orange Fitness club, Play City entertainment center, and in the directors' homes within the framework of criminal proceedings. The Kocharyan family has shares in these companies.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Monday had instructed the law enforcement to deprive second President Robert Kocharyan and third President Serzh Sargsyan of their property.
