The reaction which is mainly coming from Moscow, from the deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, is inappropriate and too aggressive, Alen Simonyan, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, stated during an interview on Russian television.
"We [i.e. Armenia] are not preparing to go to war with Russia in any sense, be it in the sphere of political, economic, or other relations. We would like our Russian colleagues to approach our situation with understanding, because we are not going to remain in an economic and military deadlock. We need alternatives. This is about the existence of our country, this is a question that is not in doubt. We need to find [new] markets for ourselves. We are not going to and do not want to lose our statehood, our country, our people," noted the secretary of the Security Council of Armenia.
