The spokesperson for the Islamic Republic of Iran Army has called on Qatar to explain and give a clear answer on the fate of three Iranian pilots that went missing during the war with the US, reports Mehr.

Iranian army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said in a recent interview with Mehr that the matter concerns the pilots of two Iranian Air Force Su-27 fighter jets that participated in the operation against a US military base in Qatar. According to him, after completing their mission, the planes were attacked by enemy air patrols on their way back and were shot down.

Later, the body of one of the deceased pilots, Majid Kazemi, was handed over to Iran and buried in Shiraz. Akraminia noted that there were two pilots on each of the two planes, so the fate of three more Iranian servicemen remains unknown.

According to him, the Iranian side has repeatedly appealed to Qatar through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the presidential administration and the headquarters of the armed forces, as well as directly to the Qatari military and government.

However, Doha claims that it has no information about the missing pilots. The Iranian army spokesperson called on the Qatari authorities to take this issue more seriously and intensify the search. If Qatar really does not know what happened to the pilots, then, according to him, the country should act more responsibly and provide Iran with documented information about their fate.
