Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has accused the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Russian Federation (RF) of failing to fulfill their security obligations toward Armenia.

At Thursday’s press briefing, Pashinyan was asked about the reason and consequences of the change in the wording of Armenia-Russia relations in the new Armenian government’s 2026-2031 program, where the word “strategic” is no longer there.

Responding to the question, Pashinyan stated that after the events of September 2022—that is,. Azerbaijan’s aggression against Armenia in the direction of Jermuk city, “you better ask why the CSTO and the RF have not fulfilled their obligations [to Armenia] in the field of security. What should I answer?”
