Armenia is trying to reorient its exports to the European Union (EU), but the amount of supplies is minimal, Mikael Agasandyan, Director of the First Department for CIS Countries at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“There is certainly an attempt to reorient the flow of exports of Armenian goods to other markets, in particular to the West,” Agasandyan said.

The Russian MFA official added, however, that this attempt does not eliminate the need to organize effective and systematic work to ensure product safety in Armenia.

“The European Union also has sanitary and phytosanitary requirements, albeit in some respects different from our requirements, but the amount of supplies from Armenia to the EU, despite optimistic statements, is still minimal,” Mikael Agasandyan said.
