The European Commission of the European Union (EU) has drafted and will present in September a sweeping reform of the EU enlargement policy, including the abolition of member states' veto power over the admission of new countries to the Union, Bloomberg reports.
The European Commission is preparing a deep reform of the EU's enlargement process. It will present its proposals to EU countries and the European Parliament in late September.
The plan includes everything from reviewing the reforms required for EU membership to using a qualified majority instead of unanimity in decision-making to avoid deadlocks.
