The forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran were engaged in placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated on Sunday.
CENTCOM rejected the Iranian side's statements that the actions of the US military were an "act of aggression" against Iran.
"FACT: U.S. forces took limited, precise action against IRGC minelaying forces posing an imminent threat in the Strait of Hormuz," says the CENTCOM post on X.
CENTCOM added that the purpose of this operation was to eliminate the threat to “civilian mariners, commercial shipping, and the free flow of global commerce.”
