Mher Gharibyan, 16, representing Armenia, put in a brilliant performance, taking first place in the 54/55 weight class at an international mixed martial arts (MMA) championship held in Kars, Turkey.

This victory is of special significance not only in terms of sport, but also in symbolic terms.

Gharibyan registered a victory in historic Kars, and during the award ceremony, the tricolor flag of Armenia was raised.

Athletes from various countries participated in the tournament, fighting for the best result in their weight classes.

Mher managed to defeat his opponent representing Georgia in difficult and competitive fights and stand on the highest step of the medal podium.
