Oman has rejected a deal with Iran on the Strait of Hormuz, a senior Middle East official said, the New York Post reports.

A high-ranking regional official said that Muscat declined to consent to charging fees—even on a voluntary basis—for environmental and security services, contrary to a statement last week from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iran's foreign ministry earlier announced that it would work with Oman to create a temporary corridor for shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and jointly demine the route, and also agreed to continue discussions on creating a permanent corridor for shipping through the currently closed strait.
