The average price of diesel fuel in the US has increased by almost 60% over the past year and reached a historic high of $5.85 per gallon, according to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA).

A year ago, the average price of a gallon of diesel fuel in the US was $3.71. Thus, diesel has increased in price by 57.6%, or more than $2, per gallon in one year.

The current $5.85 per gallon has become the highest average price of diesel fuel in the US in the entire history of AAA monitoring.
