Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk has stated that he does not see any signs of Armenia successfully redirecting its exports to other markets instead of the Russian market, RIA Novosti reports.

“Apparently, no. Of course, they [i.e. Armenia] have been provided with some small assistance, but it cannot be compared in any way with the large and usual market for them, which is Russia. And we have also gotten used to that product,” Overchuk said in an interview with the Vesti news service, answering a question about the results of Armenia’s attempts to redirect its supplies to other directions.

According to the Russian deputy premier, Russia is at the same time “forced to take measures to protect its own market” and proposes to Armenian colleagues to jointly resolve the emerging problems. “Today, the situation is such that we [i.e. Russia] are forced to protect our market. And we propose to Armenian partners to work with us on this," Overchuk said.
