Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics received Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan. The meeting discussed the expanding of cooperation between Armenia and Latvia, which is reflected in both the dynamics of recent high-level mutual visits and the consistently developing agenda, informs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Armenia.

Mirzoyan and Rinkevics exchanged views on specific opportunities for developing partnership between the two countries, emphasizing the need to expand trade and economic cooperation.

They also touched upon mechanisms for diversifying economic ties, as well as increasing the access of Armenian products to European markets. The deepening Armenia-EU partnership agenda was also discussed in detail. Minister Mirzoyan stressed that Armenia highly appreciates the continued support of EU member states, including Latvia, in advancing Armenia’s European integration agenda.

Both sides noted with satisfaction the successful holding of the European Political Community summit in Yerevan in May. The Armenian foreign minister and the Latvian president exchanged views on regional developments, too.

Mirzoyan briefed Rinkevics on the new opportunities for the development of economic and interdependence that have opened up in the conditions of peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the work being carried out towards the implementation of the TRIPP project.

The meeting touched also upon the cooperation between Armenia and Latvia within the framework of international organizations, including the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17) to be held in Yerevan in October.
